Southeast Overview  of Early Care & Education Trainings
Preschool teachers, Head Start staff, family child care, center staff are invited to this interactive and lively training.  People new to early childhood education rave about the Overview training, reporting that it helps them feel more aware, more comfortable, and more effective in their work with children and families. 

Travel assistance is available for licensed providers coming from Haines, Hoonah, Wrangell, Prince of Wales, Yakutat, Metlakatla, and Petersburg.  The 20 training hours apply toward a CDA, as well as licensing.  Registration is required so register early!

If you have access to a computer and cable modem, log on to www.abcdalaska.org and take the "Are you ready for e-learning?" quiz. If you pass, follow the links to register! Each module is worth 20 hours of quality early childhood training hours. Call Emily Coate for more information.
Public Broadcasts

"A Place of Our Own" - 6 days a week!
We are happy to announce that Alaska One has decided to broadcast "A Place Of Our Own" six days a week! This is a wonderful show for early childhood educators and parents, on a variety of topics.

There will be a sneak preview of the week's topics on Sunday mornings at 10:30, and a daily half hour show M-F at 5:30pm to view the schedule, log on to http://www.ktoo.org/tvschedule.cfm.
They also have a companion website with great resources and information expanding on the topics covered. Check it out!

Earn licensing credit by watching the program and writing a one page summary of the broadcast Include three ideas you already use in your program, and three new ideas from the broadcast you plan to incorporate. Send your summary to AEYC to receive a certificate, or complete your choice of activity sheets in the downloadable workbook.

Distance Modules Over 130 modules are out in the hands of early childhood educators, and a pilot project from 10 SE centers is in the process of being evaluated. This will help us make improvements, and make decisions about the best way to use the modules. Meanwhile, if you are outside Juneau and would like to work toward your 20 hours of licensing training, or 120 hours of CDA training, call to request one of the modules. 1-888-785-1235.
First Aid Classes

In addition to local resources Red Cross offers first aid classes in Ketchikan, Craig, Wrangell, and Juneau. To sign up for American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Training, please call the Juneau office at 907-463-5713.
Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. To look for future classes in your area check at www.alaska.redcross.org.
