- KTOO family night events
- Statewide issues
- Statistics and demographics
- Grant informationCommunity collaborations
Joy is celebrating her 10th anniversary as Director at
AEYC. After being inspired by the professional development goals of so many
early childhood folks all around her, she just completed her Masters degree in
Organizational Management. Joy and her husband of 25 years are getting ready
for “empty nesting” with their two teenagers and a young adult in Juneau, and
meanwhile are raising a flock of nine nesting chickens.
Ever
since she was little, Joy’s favorite thing to do was to put on “play clothes,”
grab a book, and head outside to the nearest pond, creek, lake, or stream.
These days she has been known to read while floating along with the tide in her
kayak.

-Nutritional Information
- Fun Nutritional/ Physical Activity home visits
- On site mentoring

I grew up in the mountains of upstate New York. I moved to Juneau after high school to help my cousin with rent and childcare for her son. I met my husband Sean a year after and we married two years later. We continue the two year trend and have two beautiful girls Anya and Sophia (they are two years apart). My dream of growing up was to be a domestic goddess. However reality set in and after a 7 year stint with Costco I started my childcare business. Through caring for children I went the path of approval, and then licensing, which lead me to AEYC. Through many training events and conferences I obtained my CDA credential. I ran Happy Hearts Childcare for 6 years until my youngest daughter went to school full days and then had the opportunity to take the torch from Suey and became the next Childcare Food Program Manager!
I am very proud to be a part of this very resourceful organization, and am eager to continue on with my growth in the field of early childhood development. |

Her publications projects keep her busy with this web site, and working on special art-related projects including art activity visits, and art workshops.
